Within 48 to 72 hours of submission of forms, you will receive a welcome mailer with verification code.

Download the Absa Mobile Pay app from the Google Play Store.

Enter your verification code in the Absa Mobile Pay app to start accepting payments.

What mobile phone do I need?

You need an Android device running Android 7 or higher, with NFC capability.
Where can I download Absa Mobile Pay?

You can download Absa Mobile Pay from the Play Store and you need to be registered as a merchant with Absa before you can register to use the product.
How much does Absa Mobile Pay cost?

There is a commission fee of 2.25% on every transaction.
How much are the monthly costs for using Absa Mobile Pay?

There are no monthly costs for using Absa Mobile Pay.
Do I need to rent a device to use Absa Mobile Pay?

No investment on devices is required. The customer uses their own mobile device to accept payments, using the NFC capability.
Can I use Absa Mobile Pay in other countries?

Absa Mobile Pay is only available in South Africa.
Can I link multiple cellphones to one merchant number?

Yes, multiple cellphones can be linked to one merchant number.
Why does it not work on iOS/Apple devices?

Apple has not allowed third parties to do payments using their NFC technology.
I have downloaded the App from the Play Store, but it does not load?

You need data connectivity to run Absa Mobile Pay.
Can I send a customer a slip after the transaction is completed?

Yes, simply click on Send SMS on the confirmation screen. Enter the mobile number and confirm.
What do I do if my phone gets stolen?

Please contact the call centre to reprovision the cellphone number of the stolen phone. A new verification needs to be generated and sent. This process will take 48 to 72 hours.
What are the transaction limits when accepting card transactions?

There is no limit to the amount that you may accept on Absa Mobile Pay. From an issuing perspective, the normal issuing card limit will apply.
I am trying to accept a payment, but the card tap function is not working. What should I do?
You need to hold the card to the NFC reader on the phone. This is located on the back of your phone. Once the card is located, it will register with an audible beep. Please keep the card on the phone until a second beep is heard, or the message Remove the card is displayed.

Try tapping the card on the back of the phone and if it does not work, try the front of the phone. The NFC readers on smartphones differ.
Why does the App take a long time to load?

Please check your data connectivity and ensure that you are using an NFC phone. This can be checked under Settings, then Connections, and then check if there is NFC and that it is enabled.
What do I do about cards that are not NFC-enabled?

These cards will not work on Absa Mobile Pay. Alternative payment methods will need to be offered.
How do I obtain receipts for customers?

Customer receipts will be sent via SMS by entering the customer’s cellphone number after the transaction.
Where can I view the transaction history?

You can get the transaction history by contacting the call centre and asking for the batch settlement. Absa Merchant Access Online can be used.
When will transactions be cleared into my account?

Transactions will be cleared as per the normal merchant facility and clearing.
