  • How to buy prepaid electricity for a new beneficiary

    1. On the Absa website home page click on Logon in the top right of the screen
    2. Logon to Absa Online Banking
    3. Click on the Buy tab in the top left of the screen
      Select Prepaid electricity from the dropdown
    4. Click Buy for someone new
    5. Accept the verification request that is sent to your registered device
    6. Enter the Meter number
      Click Search
    7. Complete the Purchase details
      Click Next
    8. View the prepaid electricity purchase details
      Click Confirm
    9. Accept the verification request sent to your registered device
    10. Your prepaid electricity purchase is successful and your token will display on screen
      Click Done

     

    Note: You can purchase a prepaid minimum amount of R30 to a maximum of R1 000 per day. A prepaid maximum amount of R3 000 can be purchased per month. For prepaid electricity queries please call us on 08600 08600.

  • How to resend a prepaid electricity notice

    1. On the Absa website home page click on Logon in the top right of the screen
    2. Logon to Absa Online Banking
    3. Click Manage beneficiaries on the side menu
    4. Click PrePaid electricity under View and manage beneficiaries
    5. Click Resend notice on the specific beneficiary that you wish to resend the token for
    6. From the Purchase history, find the desired transaction  
      Click More
      Click Resend notice
    7. Complete the Notification details
      Click Next
    8. View the Notice of purchase details
      Click Confirm
    9. Your notice is successfully resent
      Click Done

  • How to buy prepaid electricity for a new beneficiary

    1. Logon to the Absa Banking App
    2. Tap on the Buy electricity icon in the top right of screen
    3. Tap Buy for someone new
    4. Enter Recipient meter number
      Tap Done
    5. Enter Meter name
      Confirm the Meter details displayed on the screen
      Tap Continue
    6. On the Purchase details screen select the account you would like to use
      Enter the amount
    7. Select the notification option how you would like to receive the token
    8. Tap Continue
      Tap Purchase to confirm
    9. On the Confirm Purchase screen accept the acknowledgement
      Tap on Purchase
    10. Accept the verification request that pops up
    11. Your prepaid electricity purchase is successful and your token will display on screen
      Tap Done

    1. Logon to the Absa Banking App
    2. Tap on the Buy electricity icon on the top right of screen
    3. Select beneficiary
    4. On the Purchase details screen select the account you would like to use
      Enter the amount
    5. Select the notification option how you would like to receive the token
      Tap Continue
    6. On the Confirm Purchase screen accept the acknowledgement
      Tap on Purchase
    7. Accept the verification request that pops up
    8. Your prepaid electricity purchase is successful and your token will display on screen
      Tap Done

  • How to resend a prepaid electricity token

    1. Logon to the Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Buy electricity in the top right of the screen
    3. Tap Purchase history, then
      Select the beneficiary you wish to resend the token for
    4. Select the Successful purchase you want to resend
    5. The token will be displayed on the screen
    6. Tap on the Share function in the top right of the screen to resend the token
    7. Select your preferred communication channel to resend the token
    8. Your token is successfully resent

Cellphone Banking

  • How to buy prepaid electricity

    1. Dial *120*2272#, and enter your 5-digit PIN
    2. Select 2 for Prepaid
      Tap Send
    3. Select 2 for Electricity
      Tap Send
    4. Select 2 for New beneficiary
      Tap Send
    5. Enter the meter number
      Tap Send
    6. Enter the recipient’s name
      Tap Send
    7. Enter the amount
      Tap Send
    8. Select the account you wish to debit
      Tap Send
    9. Select 1 to Continue
      Tap Send
    10. Select 1 to Accept transaction
      Tap Send
    11. Select option where you would like to send the purchase information
      Tap Send
    12. Your transaction is successful

     

    Note: You can purchase a prepaid minimum amount of R30 to a maximum of

    R1 000 per day. A prepaid maximum amount of R3 000 can be purchased per month. For prepaid electricity queries please call us on 08600 08600.
     

    You do not need airtime to bank using Absa Cellphone Banking.

  • How to resend a prepaid electricity token

      Tap Send

    4. Select option 3 to Resend token
      Tap Send
    5. Select the beneficiary you wish to resend the token for
      Tap Send
    6. Select the applicable transaction
      Tap Send
    7. Select the cellphone number you wish to resend the token to
      Tap Send
    8. Your token is successfully resent

     

    You do not need airtime to bank using Absa Cellphone Banking.

  • How to buy prepaid electricity

    1. WhatsApp “Hi” to Absa ChatWallet (086000 2428)
    2. Type in your ChatWallet PIN
    3. Tap on Menu
    4. Choose Buy
    5. Choose Electricity
    6. Follow the steps in your chat
