  • Qualifying Engagements

    Qualifying Engagements required to earn monthly Cash Back as a Rewards member   

    • Rewards members are required to meet a minimum of five (5) Engagements per Accrual Period each month to earn cash back. You will not earn Cash Rewards in a particular Accrual Period if you perform less than 5 (five) engagements within the Accrual Period in question.

    The following events constitute an Engagement:

    • Banking App logins [minimum of 3 (three) events per month].
    • Digital Lifestyle voucher purchases.
    • Complete an Absa Advantage challenge [minimum of 2 (two) challenges per month].
    • Deposits into a qualifying Transactional Account.
    • Perform at least one of the following bank transaction types:

  • Rewards Scores and Tiers

    Customers under the age of 55 cannot move beyond Tier 1 unless they have downloaded and registered on the Absa Banking App.

    Banking Products

    There are 14 product categories that you can take up. These contribute towards your Rewards Tier.

    *This score category excludes the following accounts: Absa Money Market Fund, Income and Growth Performa, Club Account, Travel Club, Investment Club, Grocery Club, Liquidity Plus, Senior Save, Absa Call Account and 32-Day Notice Bonus Deposits.

    We will only allocate the score after you have met this criterion in the previous two months.

    Banking Activities

    There are three banking activities that will also contribute towards your monthly Rewards score allocation.

    • Meet the minimum criteria to earn the primacy score (you will not be able to earn the digital engagement score if you do not hold primacy with the bank)
    • Do a minimum of 5 digital transactions (5 or more transactions are not over and above the 10 transactions required for the primacy score).

    Bonus score Have three or more Home Loans, Vehicle Asset loans or a combination thereof.   • Earn Rates and Spend Limits

    Bank Earn

    The Bank Earn Model has been changed from a percentage-based to a fixed-value model. The fixed-value model table illustrates the maximum qualifying spend value assigned to each tier level.     MCCP & Partner Earn

    The percentage of Cash Rewards you can earn is determined by your Rewards tier, which is calculated monthly based on the products you have and the way you bank. You will also enjoy higher earn rates when you use your credit card.

    Purchases above the spend limit at partners will form part of the Bank earn (30% of Total spend or R3000 whichever occurs first) 

    • Earn up to R4000 in qualifying grocery purchases at all participating stores accrual period.
    • In the Grocery category, customers can earn Cash Back on the full R4 000 spend limit for transactions without a card.
    • For card present transactions, Customers can only earn Cash back on a maximum of R3000 in the Grocery category.

    This is cash back earned when you use your Absa card at one of our selected Rewards Partners. You will earn up to 30% real cash back, depending on your Rewards Tier from our partners when you use your Absa card for point-of-sale purchases for your qualifying in-store and online transactions at our selected partners. Each partner offers a different earn rate/set of rates and this is based on the partner offering.

    Automatic Credit Limit Increase (“ACLI”) and Credit Marketing consent

    Rewards members who sign up for an annual automatic credit limit increase (ACLI) on their Credit Card and credit marketing consent will earn a 30% Cashback bonus on all qualifying spend for the month during which the ACLI is
    applied. This is a once-off yearly benefit. The 30% calculation will include all normal earn. Any boosted or bonus earn will be excluded.
     
    Idle balance recovery      N/A R10 will be deducted from a member’s Rewards Account that has been inactive for 3 (three) consecutive months. This amount will be deducted from the available cash-back balance for the duration of the inactive period or until the Rewards Account balance has been depleted;
  • Accrual Period and Cash Rewards Payout

    The accrual cycle (also known as the accrual period) is the period of your spend during which you accumulate Cash Rewards. This cycle begins on the 16th of every month and ends on the 15th of the following month (both dates inclusive).

    The scores are calculated on the last day of every month. Any products taken up during the current Accrual Period to move up a tier, will be allocated in the next Accrual Period.

Your Cash Rewards are paid into your Absa Rewards account to redeem and spend whenever you wish. Register for Absa Online banking or download our mobile app to redeem and keep track of your Cash Rewards.

      • It will take up to four working days for the redemption to reflect in your Unit Trust account. A minimum redemption value of R200 (per redemption) applies to Cash Rewards redeemed and transferred to an Absa Unit Trust Account.
