How to apply

  • What is it?

    • Once you retire, you need to draw an income from your pension, provident or retirement annuity fund in which you have been investing
    • A Living Annuity allows you to invest your accumulated savings wisely and earn regular retirement income.
       

    What do you get?
     

    • Helps you consider consumption rates, returns and rising living costs for money longevity
    • Ensures that your capital works for you during retirement.

  • Fees and charges

    Minimum lump sum investment:

    • R75 000 
       

    Initial policy charges:

    • R0

    Annual policy charges are:

    • First: R250 000 – 0.75%, 
    • Next: R500 000 – 0.50%, 
    • Above: R750 000 – 0.25%

  • Tax implications

    • The annuity payment is taxable as income
    • PAYE is deducted in accordance with SARS
    • In the event that investors requiring a lower percentage of tax to be deducted from the annuity payment, a tax directive will have to be obtained annually from SARS
    • Any income or capital growth that takes place in respect of the underlying assets of the Living Annuity in the hands of Absa Life’s hands, is exempt from any tax, under current legislation.
