Battery back-up/Uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems serve as a back-up source of electricity in the event of interruption of normal power (as during power outages). Typical battery back-up/UPS systems comprise the following:

A grid-tied system uses solar panels that are connected directly to an inverter and generate electricity from sunlight. The electricity that it generates, is used locally on the property or fed back into the electricity grid (if allowed) when excess electricity is generated. Hybrid solar systems are grid-connected with battery energy storage. Typical hybrid solar systems require the following components:

An Off-grid system is not connected to the electricity grid and therefore requires battery storage and a back-up generator. A typical off-grid solar system requires the following components:
